Le Turk was born on 4 June 1983 in Montpellier. Son of an artisan, he grew up in central France. He obtained a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Tours.
Initially, he gravitated towards comic books. It was after becoming director of the cultural centre La Rue Les Arts, in the Paris region, that he turned to photography. He began by staging circuses and cabarets, inspired by pre-war Paris. He used sets that he designed and built, recalling the world of Georges Méliès.
